Early Release – On Wednesday, November 24th school will dismiss at 12:00 noon to begin our Thanksgiving Holiday break. There will be No school on Thursday and Friday, November 25th and 26th due to the Thanksgiving break. Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
Fall Sports Photos – On Friday, November 19th Fall Sports Photos will be taken for the Boys’ Soccer Team after school at 3:15 and for the Volleyball team at 3:30 on the outside field.
8th Grade Baby Yearbook Pictures - 8th grade students, please bring a baby picture for the montage page in this year's yearbook. Please put your picture in an envelope with your first and last name on it. Remember, you will NOT get this picture back!
The picture should be small which means that your head should be no
larger than a quarter. Please turn in your picture to Mrs. Washalefsky by November 24.

It’s Almost Turkey day!! Who will be our turkey this year?
Get Ready to Vote!! The race is on! GOBBLE, GOGGLE!
Students will have the opportunity at lunch time to buy a vote through Thursday, November 18th to go Turkey Bowling and for their favorite MCMS staff member to be our Turkey for a Day!
For fifty cents you get two votes, one vote you choose a staff member to be our Turkey of the Day. The staff member with the most votes at the end of the contest will be declared “The Biggest Turkey!” Oh, that “Big Turkey” gets to also wear a really cool turkey costume the entire day!
Your second vote will also enter you into the Turkey Bowl challenge!
On Fri. Nov. 19th, 5 students from each grade level will have their name drawn from the votes and will be demonstrating their bowling techniques as they attempt to bowl frozen turkeys across the cafeteria floor! The winner from each grade will win a prize. OHhhhhhh…. What Fun!
* (Mr. Riddle has immunity as he was voted our Favorite Turkey last year)
All proceeds from our Turkey Day contest will go to the Front Office Administration Dept to purchase needed supplies.
Remember voting will go through tomorrow, Thursday, November 18th. Turkey bowling will be on Friday, Nov. 19th.
Votes are just fifty cents each! So get your votes in, and vote as many times as you like!
Rachel's Challenge – Rachel’s Challenge is coming to Morehead City. We are certain that this will be THE BEST school assembly you have ever been a part of. We will also host a parent and community evening, so mark your calendars for December 2nd. For more information check out Rachelschallenge.org
Glee Club – The Glee Club will meet every Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00 in the school cafeteria.
Girls Open Gym – There will be NO Basketball OPEN GYM for girls’ tomorrow, Thursday, November 18th. We will have OPEN Gym next Tuesday, November 23rd from 3:00-4:30. Please make sure your ride is here at 4:30pm. Coach Schopfel
Boys Open Gym - The next basketball open gym for any 7th and 8th grade boys interested in playing basketball will be today, Wednesday, November 17th from 3:15 - 5:00 pm.
Boys Soccer – Today, Wednesday, November 17th our boys’ soccer team will travel to Pamlico County Middle School. Good Luck Minutemen!
Please dismiss our soccer team today @1:25. The bus will depart at 1:30.
Monday, November 22nd will be our next away boys’ soccer game Down East @ 3:30.
Cheerleader – Cheerleaders: We will participate in the Morehead City Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 11, at 11am in downtown Morehead. Be sure to give your parents the Winter update letter and return slip regarding our Flapjack fundraiser. Bring slips to Coach Lancaster by practice on Tuesday, November 16.
*Cheerleaders: dress warmly for the weather as we will practice outside today, Wednesday, November 17th to work on our stunting routines for basketball and the parade march.
*On Saturday, February 12th the cheerleaders will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebee’s. We would love for you to make plans to attend. In the meantime, we are looking for two people, students and /or staff to take the pancake challenge of who can eat the most pancakes. The winner receives a gift card for a free meal from Applebee’s. If interested, see Dega Lancaster this week.
Media Mania News …. Don’t get caught without a BOOK!
Media Mania: Serial Spies, due to a schedule conflict, Mrs. Lancaster needs to meet with the Serial Spies on Monday, November 22, after school until 4:00. We will not meet on this Thursday. If you have read either of our summer reads and are interested in being a Serial Spy, we would love to have you join our committee. Signs around the school will let you know more about what our committee does.
Holiday Book Fair - Holiday BOGO Book Fair comes again. It arrives on Wednesday, December 8th, open to students on December 9th through the 14th. Late nights will be on the 9th and 14th. The fair is only 4 days. A surprise Holiday visitor will be on campus throughout the fair. Gift wrap station will be set up at the fair. Get your holiday gifts and have them wrapped. Parents wishing to volunteer their services to help our book fair should contact Dega Lancaster, dega.lancaster@carteretk12.org, 726-1126, ext. 1050
Meal Payment Program - The Board of Education approved the LunchPrepay.com program in early September and it is now up and running.
Information can be found on the school system's website - just look on the right side in the Headline section.
General Mills Box Tops Fundraiser – Attention Parents...You can make a difference! Collect Box Tops from participating General Mills and affiliates products and earn cash for MCMS!!! Just clip the marked Box Top labels and send them in to MCMS with your student. Each top is worth 10 cents and it adds up fast!!! Also, please ask family and friends collect the tops, earning extra money for school needs will be so easy!
Lowe’s Food Gift Cards - Our PTO continues to sell Lowe's Food gift cards for $50 each. Our school profits 6% on each card sold. Please plan to purchase a Lowe's gift card by writing a check to MCMS PTO or paying cash. This is a great way to plan for Thanksgiving meals and support our school. Parents may come into the office to purchase cards at any time. PTO members will be selling these cards in the afternoon carpool line for your convenience on November 17, 18, 19, 22 and 23.
Bojangle Gift Cards - MCMS PTO is also selling Bojangle Cards for $5 each. They are a $15 value at Bojangles, and they'll make great stocking stuffers for the holidays. Bojangle cards are available in our office.

To do this, please click on the announcements on the left side of Morehead Middle’s Blog page. The Town Crier School News will pop up. Click on the Follower button located at the bottom of our school calendar.
