New Computer Visitor, Student, Sign In and Out System – Our new computer sign in and out system is up and running.
The office staff will assist you in this new program which is located in the front office.
All late or tardy students will use this system to sign in and out to school.
Also, all visitors are required to sign in and out in the front office using this same system.
Athletic Booster Meeting – The Athletic Booster Club will meet on Monday, November 29th at 6:00 pm in our cafeteria lobby. Hope to see you here!
Parent Survey: Please take the time to fill out this survey (time commitment: 5 minutes). We are aware of the need for providing various activities after school for our students. The activities provided at this "Fun Day" will be based on student/parent responses and support and will include an assortment of athletic and enrichment opportunities (ex. Glee Club, cake decorating). Students will be taking a similar survey to highlight areas of interest within the next couple of weeks. The survey is up and ready to go. Follow the link below today:

Early Release – Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 24th school will dismiss at 12:00 noon to begin our Thanksgiving Holiday break. There will be No school on Thursday and Friday, November 25th and 26th due to the Thanksgiving break. Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
Yearbook Meeting -Yearbook meeting, Tuesday, November 30th from 3:00-4:00 in Room 24. Please have your ride here to pick you up promptly at 4:00.
PBiS Celebration – Celebrate!! On Wednesday, November 24 (8:00-10:00) we will be celebrating you and your good behavior. WE are very proud of how students have worked to follow expectations in our school. Two activities will be offered the movie, Stormbreaker, and a student/teacher volleyball game in our gym. Students may only choose one event to attend.
All students are asked to bring in canned goods to help support our local food pantry. Please give the canned goods to your homeroom teacher by November 23rd.
A “Bucket of CANdy” will go to the winning homeroom that has the most canned foods! Concessions will be offered at the celebration so make sure you bring your money. Admissions to these events are free and the time you are rewarded to attend the events are based on your PBiS earnings.
8th Grade Baby Yearbook Pictures - 8th grade students, please bring a baby picture for the montage page in this year's yearbook. Please put your picture in an envelope with your first and last name on it. Remember, you will NOT get this picture back!
The picture should be small which means that your head should be no
larger than a quarter. Please turn in your picture to Mrs. Washalefsky by Wednesday, November 24.
Rachel's Challenge – Rachel’s Challenge is coming to Morehead City. We are certain that this will be THE BEST school assembly you have ever been a part of. We will also host a parent and community evening, so mark your calendars for Thursday, December 2nd.

Community Service Project – Are you ready to accept Rachel’s Challenge? There is an opportunity right here at MCMS to show kindness and compassion. A Community Service Project is going on where all you have to do is save your metal tabs from aluminum cans. The proceeds from the tabs will go toward a family of a BCMS teacher whose baby is in a need of a great deal of medical care. Be sure to ask your friends, relatives and neighbors to save their tabs as well.
Each grade level has a gallon bucket that needs to be filled to overflowing. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate, feel great; bring in your tabs today!
Glee Club – There will be NO Glee Club tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov 24th. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 1st in the school cafeteria from 3:00-4:00.
Boys Basketball Sign-Up - Any 7th or 8th grade boy interested in trying out for the basketball team need to fill out the sign-up sheet during your lunch period between November 23 - 24. Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 29 at 4:45 pm. Students must have a current physical on-file with the school to try-out. If you have any questions, please see Coach Smith during your lunch period."
Girls Open Gym – We will have OPEN Gym for girls today, Tuesday, November 23rd from 3:00-4:30. Please make sure your ride is here at 4:30pm. Coach Schopfel
Boys Soccer - With amazing goaltending skills from Michael Tyndall and David Lopez the Minuteman held off the attack from Down East yesterday and left with a 5-0 victory! Next home game is Monday against Beaufort, come join the fun!
Cheerleader – Cheerleaders: We will participate in the Morehead City Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 11, at 11am in downtown Morehead. Be sure to give your parents the winter update letter and return slip regarding our Flapjack fundraiser.
*On Saturday, February 12th the cheerleaders will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebee’s. We would love for you to make plans to attend. In the meantime, we are looking for two people, students and /or staff to take the pancake challenge of who can eat the most pancakes. The winner receives a gift card for a free meal from Applebee’s. Holiday Book Fair - Holiday BOGO Book Fair comes again. It arrives on Wednesday, December 8th, open to students on December 9th through the 14th. Late nights will be on the 9th and 14th. The fair is only 4 days. A surprise Holiday visitor will be on campus throughout the fair. Gift wrap station will be set up at the fair. Get your holiday gifts and have them wrapped. Parents wishing to volunteer their services to help our book fair should contact Dega Lancaster, dega.lancaster@carteretk12.org, 726-1126, ext. 1050
Meal Payment Program - The Board of Education approved the LunchPrepay.com program in early September and it is now up and running.
Information can be found on the school system's website - just look on the right side in the Headline section.
General Mills Box Tops Fundraiser – Attention Parents...You can make a difference! Collect Box Tops from participating General Mills and affiliates products and earn cash for MCMS!!! Just clip the marked Box Top labels and send them in to MCMS with your student. Each top is worth 10 cents and it adds up fast!!! Also, please ask family and friends collect the tops, earning extra money for school needs will be so easy!
Lowe’s Food Gift Cards - Our PTO continues to sell Lowe's Food gift cards for $50 each. Our school profits 6% on each card sold. Please plan to purchase a Lowe's gift card by writing a check to MCMS PTO or paying cash. This is a great way to plan for Thanksgiving meals and support our school. Parents may come into the office to purchase cards at any time. PTO members will be selling these cards in the afternoon carpool line for your convenience on November 17, 18, 19, 22 and 23.
Bojangle Gift Cards - MCMS PTO is also selling Bojangle Cards for $5 each. They are a $15 value at Bojangles, and they'll make great stocking stuffers for the holidays. Bojangle cards are available in our office.
