Early Release – School will dismiss today, Friday, December 17th at 12:00 noon for the Holidays. School will be back in session on Monday, January 3rd. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

Community Service Project – Are you ready to accept Rachel’s Challenge? There is an opportunity right here at MCMS to show kindness and compassion. A Community Service Project is going on where all you have to do is save your metal tabs from aluminum cans. The proceeds from the tabs will go toward a family of a BCMS teacher whose baby is in a need of a great deal of medical care. Be sure to ask your friends, relatives and neighbors to save their tabs as well.
Each grade level has a 5-gallon bucket that needs to be filled to overflowing. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate, feel great; bring in your tabs today!
Cheerleaders – On Saturday, February 12th the cheerleaders will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebee’s. We would love for you to make plans to attend. In the meantime, we are looking for two people, students and /or staff to take the pancake challenge of who can eat the most pancakes. The winner receives a gift card for a free meal from Applebee’s. If interested, see Dega Lancaster this week.

Poster winners need to report to the media center today for poster pick up... Zack Kent, Jack Deal, Dalton Leeukuil, Kalee Guthrie, Laci Gray, Madison Graybill, Miah Domel, Brian Angeles, Hunter Draughon, and other winners should pick up posters.

Glee Club - Glee club practice today, Wednesday, December 15th will be ONLY for those students who are going on Friday's field trip - you must have your field trip permission form already submitted. The meeting will be in Mrs. Dodgens's room from 3 until 4.
Basketball – The Basketball team will travel to Beaufort Middle School today to challenge the Chargers. Please dismiss the cheerleaders, basketball team and their managers at 2:55. Please allow 8th graders to pack their belongings to go home after lunch so they can carry them to encores classes.
Cheerleaders – Cheerleaders need to plan on arranging ride arrangements from Beaufort Middle School to No Name Pizza and Subs for our holiday celebration. Each cheerleader should bring $10. They will need to plan for a parent or guardian to either join us or pick them up from No Name Pizza and Subs in Beaufort. No Name is located on the right just after the stop light where Hwy 70 turns left. This is for today, Wednesday, December 15.

Holiday Book Fair – Last Day! Last Chance! Holiday BOGO Book Fair is still here through today, Tuesday, December 14th. We will be open late tonight, Tuesday, December 14th until 7:00 pm.
A Gift wrap station will be set up at the fair. Get your holiday gifts and have them wrapped right here!
This BOGO, since so many books will be going out, we decided to count the green. We are on a $2000 Green challenge, which will earn us $1000 in books. Due to sales, we are already filling the challenge. Can we bust it?

New Computer for Visitor, Student, Sign In and Out System – Our new computer sign in and out system is up and running.
The office staff will assist you in this new program which is located in the front office.
All late or tardy students will use this system to sign in and out to school.
Also, all visitors are required to sign in and out in the front office using this same system.

Youth Volleyball League - All girls interested in playing volleyball: The Boys and Girls Club will offer a youth volleyball league on Tuesday nights starting at 7:00pm. It began Tuesday (11/30) and will run for 8 weeks. The cost is $30 per player. For more information please contact Jeremy McDonald (252-342-6691)."
Project Caring by Sharing – MCMS’s Christmas Service Project is still up and running! This is our way of giving back during the Holiday Season to our school community. We are collecting food/money donations from now until December 13th. Please bring any donations to your home room teacher and help us make Project Caring by Sharing 2010 the best one ever.

Soccer Game– Yesterday afternoon the boys’ soccer team played the girls’ soccer team after school. The bragging rights go again this year to the boys’ team! The boys were victorious 4-0 yesterday against the girls. The girls put up a great fight but were unable to pull it through. Thanks to all the fans who braved the
c-o-l-d weather to support our Minutemen!

Parent Survey: Please take the time to fill out this survey (time commitment: 5 minutes). We are aware of the need for providing various activities after school for our students. The activities provided at this "Fun Day" will be based on student/parent responses and support and will include an assortment of athletic and enrichment opportunities (ex. Youth Volleyball League - All girls interested in playing volleyball: The Boys and Girls Club will offer a youth volleyball league on Tuesday nights starting at 7:00pm. Project Caring by Sharing – MCMS’s Christmas Service Project is still up and running! This is our way of giving back during the Holiday Season to our school community. We are collecting food/money donations from now until December 13th. Please bring any donations to your home room teacher and help us make Project Caring by Sharing 2010 the best one ever.
Community Service Project – Are you ready to accept Rachel’s Challenge? There is an opportunity right here at MCMS to show kindness and compassion. A Community Service Project is going on where all you have to do is save your metal tabs from aluminum cans. The proceeds from the tabs will go toward a family of a BCMS teacher whose baby is in a need of a great deal of medical care. Be sure to ask your friends, relatives and neighbors to save their tabs as well.
Each grade level has a 5-gallon bucket that needs to be filled to overflowing. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate, feel great; bring in your tabs today!
Boys Soccer – On Wednesday, December 8th we will have a boy vs. girl soccer game at 3:30 right here at MCMS Soccer Field. We also want to celebrate “School Spirit Day” on Wednesday, so wear red, white, and blue our school colors. Come out and cheer for your favorite team!
Cheerleaders – We will participate in the Morehead City Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 11, at 11:00 am in downtown Morehead. Be sure to give your parents the winter update letter and return slip regarding our Flapjack fundraiser.
*On Saturday, February 12th the cheerleaders will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebee’s. We would love for you to make plans to attend. In the meantime, we are looking for two people, students and /or staff to take the pancake challenge of who can eat the most pancakes. The winner receives a gift card for a free meal from Applebee’s. Holiday Book Fair – Holiday BOGO Book Fair comes again. It arrives tomorrow, Wednesday, December 8thand teachers can preview until 4:30 pm. It will be open to students on Thursday, December 9th through Tuesday, December14th. The late nights will be on Thursday, December 9th and on Tuesday, December 14th. The fair is only 4 days.
A surprise Holiday visitor will be on campus throughout the fair. Gift wrap station will be set up at the fair. Get your holiday gifts and have them wrapped. Meal Payment Program - The Board of Education approved the LunchPrepay.com program in early September and it is now up and running.

General Mills Box Tops Fundraiser – Attention Parents...You can make a difference! Collect Box Tops from participating General Mills and affiliates products and earn cash for MCMS!!! Just clip the marked Box Top labels and send them in to MCMS with your student. Each top is worth 10 cents and it adds up fast!!! Also, please ask family and friends collect the tops, earning extra money for school needs will be so easy!
Lowe’s Food Gift Cards - Our PTO continues to sell Lowe's Food gift cards for $50 each. Our school profits 6% on each card sold. Please plan to purchase a Lowe's gift card by writing a check to MCMS PTO or paying cash. This is a great way to plan for your Christmas meals and supporting our school. Parents may come into the office to purchase cards at any time.
Bojangle Gift Cards - MCMS PTO is also selling Bojangle Cards for $5 each. They are a $15 value at Bojangles, and they'll make great stocking stuffers for the holidays. Bojangle cards are available in our office.
