PTO Booster Club Contributions -

The deadline to make a contribution to the PTO Booster Club has been extended. While contributions are welcome any time, in order for the contribution to count toward the fundraiser prizes, the donation must be received by this Friday, October 29, 2010. Please make all checks out to PTO Booster Club and include your child’s name on the check. The checks can be given to your child’s homeroom teacher. The prize levels are:

Attend DJ Party Field Day $50-$99

Attend DJ and Wildlife Show $100 and above

All contributions are much appreciated and will be used to purchase additional technology for the MCMS student body.”

Sports Eligibility - Friday, October 29^th is sports eligibility day. On Friday teachers will review student grades to see if those of you that wish to participate in sports are eligible by meeting the requirements.

Costume Contest - On Friday Oct. 29th we welcome you all to dress up in your greatest Halloween costume! Please note that costumes must be appropriate for school.

Halloween Costume Guidelines:

1. Students must be dressed and ready prior to coming to school.

2. If face painting is part of your costume, it must be completed at home and may not create a mess within our school.

3. NO masks will be allowed.

4. No costumes relating to violence of any sort will be allowed.

Let’s have fun with this event. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day in two categories.

a. General Halloween theme

b. Summer read themes –“Stormbreaker” or I’d Tell you I Love You, But I’d have to Kill You”

If in doubt about what are wearing, please talk with your homeroom teacher or an administrator.

Our PTO will also be handing out sweet treats to start off a safe and fun Halloween weekend.

Baseball – Attention any 7^th or 8^th grade boy interested in playing basketball this year, there will be an open gym on Thursday afternoon from 3:15 – 5:00 pm. Please come dressed ready to play and have your ride here to pick you up promptly at 5:00 pm.

Football - Please dismiss the football team this Wednesday at 2:25 for the 5:00 away game at Pamlico.

Cheerleader - The cheerleaders will not be attending the Pamlico game tomorrow , Wednesday due to travel complications and schedule conflicts.

Cheerleaders will practice tomorrow, Wednesday, October 27, and on Thursday, October 28^th in Mrs. Hopkins Room # 27.

*On Saturday, February 12^th the cheerleaders will host a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebees. We would love for you to make plans to attend. In the meantime, we are looking for two people, students and /or staff to take the pancake challenge of who can eat the most pancakes. The winner receives a gift card for a free meal from Applebees. If interested, see Dega Lancaster this week.

Volleyball – The volleyball team will travel to Beaufort Middle School today, Tuesday, October 26^th. MCMS will challenge Beaufort Middle School and Broad Creek Middle School @ 4:00 pm.

Golf –Today, Tuesday, October 26^th is the conference championship match. The match begins at 1:45. Teachers please dismiss golf team at 1:00 pm.

Boys Soccer – Our 1^st boys’ soccer game will be on Thursday, October 28^th at Newport Middle School.

Please note that the boys’ soccer game that was schedule on Monday, November 1^st has now been changed to Thursday, November 4^th. Soccer games begin at 3:30 pm.

Meal Payment Program - The Board of Education approved the LunchPrepay.com program in early September and it is now up and running.

Information can be found on the school system's website - just look on the right side in the Headline section.

General Mills Box Tops Fundraiser – Attention Parents...You can make a difference! Collect Box Tops from participating General Mills and affiliates products and earn cash for MCMS!!! Just clip the marked Box Top labels and send them in to MCMS with your student. Each top is worth 10 cents and it adds up fast!!! Also, please ask family and friends collect the tops, earning extra money for school needs will be so easy!
