Make a Difference Campus Clean Up/Join Us – This Saturday, October 23rd from 9:00 -11:30 am.
*Make a Difference Day will be Saturday, October 23, 2010. This is a program endorsed by our Governor and has become the nation’s largest day of volunteering in many ways.
In North Carolina, our Governor wants Make a Difference Day to focus on schools, and on the state level has partnered with the NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, AmeriCorps programs and members, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, National Service programs and the business community.
*MCMS will participate in this initiative with a campus clean up morning from 9-11:30. Together, students, staff, and parents will clean up our school grounds. Activities will include raking, trimming, weeding, power washing and painting and other projects.
*We encourage all staff members and families to participate and Make a Difference at MCMS! Please bring your own garden gloves, tools, rakes, etc. Our school has one power washer and we could use a few more. Please let Dr. Kreuser know if you plan to bring your own to use so that we can make arrangements ahead of time with hoses and water connections.
Meal Payment Program - The Board of Education approved the LunchPrepay.com program in early September and it is now up and running.
Information can be found on the school system's website - just look on the right side in the Headline section.
Volleyball – The MCMS Minutemen Volleyball Team would like to thank all who came out to support them for their first two matches. We will be on the road next week at Beaufort and Pamlico.
Football – W-O-W, says it all! The Red Machine held off a tough and determined opponent yesterday afternoon defeating Down-East 40 to 38 in the last 2 minutes of the game. The game went back and forth all night with every possession being crucial.
Offensively, the team had a strong aerial attack. Jason Dudley had several touchdowns catches from CJ Gillikin and Jordan Meadows had several touchdowns on the ground. The offensive line had a good game giving CJ the time to throw the ball and opening holes for the running attack.
Defensively, there were two big plays. The first was fumble recovery in the fourth quarter giving us the ball inside the 30 yard line and a chance to go up by 8. The second biggest play of the game was the missed extra point in the last minute by Down-East.
Great job guys! You make us proud!
The coaching staff would like to thank all the students and staff that came out in support of the team. Practice today, Thursday in full gear.
Golf –Next golf match is today, Thursday.
Boys Soccer - 1st Game will be on Thursday, October 28th.
Please note that the boys soccer game that was schedule on Monday, November 1st has now been changed to Thursday, November 4th. Soccer games begin at 3:30 pm.
