2010 Rising 9th Grade Timeline – Here is a date to remember…Friday, April 30th
9am-12:30 pm - Rising 9th Grade Student Shadow Program at WCHS

We are in Desperate Need of Your Help!!!
EOG's will be given on each of the following dates: 5/11, 5/13, 5/18, 5/19, 5/20, 5/21, 5/25, 5/26, 5/28. Each day we will need approximately 45 proctors to help out with monitoring our state exams. Currently, we only have about 6 proctors that have confirmed for each of the dates above. If, by any chance, you are free and available from 7:30-10:30am any of these dates, we would be very grateful for your time. Please contact Carol Tabor, Libby-Tripp-Cox, or Jason Miles.

Band Annoucements – updated Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
Jazz Band will meet this Friday, April 30, 2010 after school until 4:30. Please meet in the band room after school if you are interested.

Sports Team Picture Schedule
1. Picture day is tomorrow, Friday, April 30, 2010 after school.
2. Sports fliers should go home with the students by Wednesday afternoon.
3. Teams involved are:
a. Girls’ soccer-Melody Henning 3:15
b. Softball-Rachel Dodgens 3:30
c. Baseball-Russell Hults 3:45
d. Girls’ golf-Larry Lewis 4:00
e. Track-Lewis/DeGuile 4:15
4. Teams should please have their team in uniform and be ready before your scheduled time.

West Carteret Cheerleaders for Rising 9th Graders -
There will be a short informational meeting for any girls interested in cheerleading at West Carteret High School next year on Wednesday, May 5th. The meeting will be held at 3:45 in the WCHS library.

Track News - The track team will be running again today at West Carteret High School challenging Down East and Broad Creek Middle School beginning at 4:00 pm.

Softball News - The girls played a good game on Tuesday! Great plays were made by many of the girls! Reagan Harbour made a great catch in right field. Colleen Taylor continued to make smart plays as the catcher. Fantastic pitching by Sam Glasgow! A great grounder was hit by Heather McCoy. Good job Lady Minutemen!

Baseball News - MCMS will play Newport Middle, at Newport on Tuesday, May 4th.

2010 Youth Entrepreneurship Camp – Open to rising 7th graders through rising 9th graders:
This camp is sponsored by Carteret Community College and NC REAL Enterprises and will run from June 21-25, 2010 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. For more information stop by the school office and pick up your application or contact Betsy DeCampo at (252) 222-6116.

Birdhouses for Sale - Buy a birdhouse and help our feathered friends and our school! Students from Ms. Lawrence and Mr. Butlers classes are making and selling birdhouses in order to raise funds for classroom materials and supplies. Not only are our students learning a hands-on approach to building but they are giving our feathered friends a nice home and raising money for their classrooms. The bird houses are on sale for $20. If you are interested in purchasing a bird house, please contact Ms. Lawrence or Mr. Butler at the school by calling 252-726-1126.

Bright Ideas – What a Bright idea! The MCMS Office is selling CFLs (Compact fluorescent light bulbs) for $2.00 each. Most stores sell them for $4.00 to $6.00 each, so this is a quite a deal. We have 75 and 100 watt bulbs available, and 100% of the funds from this fundraiser stay with MCMS. Please see any staff member in the office to purchase your CFLs today!

Earn $$$ for MCMS - A big thank you to everyone who linked their Harris Teeter VIC card to MCMS last year! Please remember to link your Harris Teeter VIC cards to MCMS again for this school year as well. All you have to do is go to http://www.harristeeter.com/ and select the Community Tab, then Together In Education (on the left side). At the bottom of that page click on Link your VIC card to your school now! Just fill out the next page, entering our school code of 7643, and you’re all set to help MCMS earn much needed funds for the 2009-2010 school year. Lowe’s Gift Cards – Lowe’s Gift Cards are now available to purchase in the school office for $50.00. Morehead Middle School receives 10% of this when one is purchased from our school. Come by the office soon and get yours!
