Welcome Back Minutemen!

We are off to a wonderful start! Together this will be a prosperous 2011-2012 School Year!

Make-up Days – Make-up days for the school days missed due to hurricane Irene will be on Monday, October 10th and Monday, December 19th. Monday, December 19th will be an early release day also. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:00 noon. Mark your calendars!

Retakes/Make-up Picture Day – On Thursday, September 29th Lifetouch will be here to take make-up pictures. Pictures will be taken during your lunchtime or AC time beginning at 11:30.

Sports Pictures Scheduled: October 21st beginning after school at 3:15 the following teams will take sport pictures:

Football @ 3:15

Boys Golf @ 3:30

Girls Soccer @ 3:45

Cheerleading @ 4:00

Girls Soccer News - Yesterdays game against the Bulldogs of Broad Creek ended in a 1 to 1
tie. Blair Painter scored for the Minuteman early in the first half and Emmiline Fishler had

an amazing game on defense. Our goaltender, Anna Knight kept the game tied for us with a superstar diving save late in the second of the second overtime. Thanks to all our fans
that came out yesterday!
Game today at Beaufort! Please release the soccer team and managers today at 2:40 to meet at the bus parking lot.

Parent and teachers help is always needed at our concession stands.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Boys Soccer Tryouts – Boys Soccer tryouts begin on Tuesday, October 11th at 3:15 on the back field behind MCMS. Must have a Copy of grades and sports physical MUST be in hand before they can tryout.

Football News – Today, Thursday football practice will start in Coach DeGiule's room (room 129). No equipment needed to start.

The Minutemen Football Team will travel to Newport Middle School on Wednesday, September 21st. Game begins at 5:00 pm.

1st School Dance - Attention students: This Friday, Sept. 16 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm Morehead

City Middle School will have our 1st Dance of the Year. The cost is $5.00. There will be music, games, and food. Tickets will go on sale all week during your lunch. Tickets will not be on sale at the door. Buy your ticket today!

OPEN GYM for Girls Volleyball – There will be Open Gym for girls Volleyball again today, Thursday, September 15 and also on September 20, 21, and 22 beginning at 4:30 -6:00pm.

Boys Golf Tryouts - Boys golf tryouts will begin on Monday Sept. 26 at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast located in Pine Knoll Shores. Tryouts will start at 3:30 and end at 5:30.

All boys interested must have a current/complete physical and proof of insurance. There will be a meeting on Monday, September 19th in the health room after school. The meeting will last 15 minutes. Please plan on having your ride pick you up by 3:30. You must attend the meeting or see Mr. Lewis if you plan on trying out.

The Book Fair and Beyond - Book Fair and Beyond... we've reached 75% of our 300 book goal. Remember, you can order on-line and you can pre-order Diary of Wimpy Kid # 6 Cabin Fever. Our poster winners are Carley Johnson, Johnny Bried, Jack Deal, Emmerson Woodhall, Chase Pittman, Victoria Barnard, Abigail Brockman, and Aaron Costa. Our prize winners are Shayla Whipple and Sean Owens. Our teacher winners are Sue Sippel with The Help and Melodie Willis, With the Night of Angels. Book Fair...game on!
