Welcome Back Minutemen!
We are off to a wonderful start! Together this will be a prosperous 2011-2012 School Year!
PTO Meeting - Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 8:15 AM!
E-Grades - Many of you have asked about E-grades. This system of communication regarding your students’ grades has been and continues to be important to us. Due to scheduling challenges, we have had a delay in the implementation. We are hopeful that you will be able to access your students’ accounts within the next week. We will post information in our TC and our web page when we are officially up and running and appreciate your patience in the meantime.
Absences and Tardies - We’d also like to remind you of the importance of clearing absences and tardies when they occur. Students should bring notes to Ms. Becton in first class within a couple of days of the tardiness or absence. We thank you in advance for keeping our attendance records up to date.
Rachel’s Challenge – The First Rachel's challenge meeting will be next Friday, September 30 during AC and Lunch.
*6th Grade will be in Room 134 (Kathleen Miller's Room)
*7th Grade will be in Room Number 10 (The old First Class Room)
*8th Grade will be in Room Number 7 (The Health Room

Spirit Days at MCMS - MCMS is having "Spirit Days" on Wednesday, Sept. 28, Oct.6, Oct. 18, and Nov. 7. Students we encourage you to show your school spirit by wearing red, white, and/or blue or an MCMS t-shirt on Spirit Days.
Make-up Days – Make-up days for the school days missed due to hurricane Irene will be on Monday, October 10th and Monday, December 19th. Monday, December 19th will be an early release day also. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:00 noon. Mark your calendars!
Picture Make-up Day – On Thursday, September 29th Lifetouch will be here to take make-up pictures. Pictures will be taken during your lunchtime or AC time beginning at 11:30.
Sports Pictures Scheduled: October 21st beginning after school at 3:15 the following teams will take sport pictures:
Football @ 3:15
Boys Golf @ 3:30
Girls Soccer @ 3:45
Cheerleading @ 4:00
Girls Soccer News – Next game is away on Thursday 9/29 against Down East.
Parent and teachers help is always needed at our concession stands.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Boys Soccer Tryouts – Boys Soccer tryouts begin on Tuesday, October 11th at 3:15 on the back field behind MCMS. Must have a Copy of grades and sports physical MUST be in hand before they can tryout.
Football News – Come out on Wednesday, September 28th and support the Red Machine football team during their home game at WCHS against Broad Creek Middle beginning at 5:00.

Tryouts for Girls Volleyball – TRYOUTS will begin today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, September 26, 27, and 28th of next week from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.
*Bring your Sports Physical, proof of insurance and water with you.
*Be sure to see Ms. Sippel to get your name on the try out list.
Boys Golf Tryouts - Boys golf tryouts will begin today, Monday, Sept. 26 at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast located in Pine Knoll Shores. Tryouts will start at 3:30 and end at 5:30.
All boys interested must have a current/complete physical and proof of insurance.
Media Mania News …. Don’t get caught without a BOOK!
Book Fair – Book Fair and Beyond was a huge success! We ended up exceeding our goal by 50 books! WOW! If you won a poster, please come by the media center to collect. Posters not collected by Friday, September 30 will be donated to someone else. Thank you to all of you who visited and supported our Book Fair. We were able to get $1700 worth of books from Scholastic. Book Fair Game Over.
