PTO MEETING – Our 1st PTO Meeting of the new school year will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 8:15 am in the cafeteria lobby area. Please join us for fun, fellowship, and volunteering. Football – The Minutemen Football Team will be in action this afternoon at 6:00 pm at Havelock High School. Come out and support our MIGHTY Minutemen!
OPEN HOUSE – For Parents Only!
6th Grade OPEN HOUSE will be on Thursday, September 9th from 5:30-6:30 pm.
7th Grade OPEN HOUSE will be on Thursday, September 16th from 5:30-6:30 pm.
8th Grade OPEN HOUSE will be on Wednesday, September 15th from 5:30-6:30 pm.

1st Dance of the Year - The PE department is sponsoring this year's first dance on Friday, Sept. 17th. The dance will start after school and last until 5pm. There will be a DJ, guitar hero, Dance, Dance Revolution, and more. There will also be a concession stand with drinks and food. The cost will be $5.00 per person and tickets will go on sale Monday, September 13th during lunch.
Boys Golf Tryouts – Boys golf tryouts will be on Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th from 3:30 until 5:00 at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast which is located in Pine Knoll Shores. All interested 7th and 8th grade boys will need to have a completed physical and proof of insurance. You can get this form in the office. Please do not delay in getting your physical because you will not be allowed to tryout without it.
Girls Soccer – The girls soccer team won yesterday against the Beaufort Chargers 5 - 1, with goals coming from Peyton Mclaughlin, Blair Pearce, and Nicki Leary.
Kristen Wagner and Emma Gomez stood tough on defense only allowing six shots on goal.
Next scheduled game is at home against the Newport Eagles on Tuesday, September 14th.
We have rescheduled our soccer game against Broad Creek Middle School which was canceled due to the weather on Thursday to be right here at home on our soccer field on Friday, September 24th at 4:00 pm.

Book Fair Coming Soon - The Book Fair will be delivered today, September 8th. Students will preview the fair on September 9th, so we need parent volunteers. The amazing, Mrs. Carole Keefer, will organize the parent volunteers. The fair will run from September 9 - 20. There will be night hours with the first Book Fair Blast on Thursday, September 9, which is Open House. Please contact Carole Keefer if you can volunteer an hour or more at our Book Fair. MCMS is looking for a parent that would like to volunteer to help with the school news program. We need a tech savvy parent that would be comfortable running video cameras, editing, and working with students to create a student led news program. Summer Read = The BATTLE 2010
This year, the Summer Reading committee along with commentary from the students decided to host the battle between Guys and Gals. Our Summer Read consisted of a guy title: Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz and a gal title: I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter. Both of these reading adventures curtail the lives of the secret spy world. Are you man enough to try the gal title? Are you woman enough to try the guy title? Make sure you read one of the titles, and for a stronger chance of victory, read both titles.
