Town Crier on Thursday, January 12, 2012.

Happy Thursday!
January 12, 2012
We are off to a wonderful start! Together this will be a prosperous 2011-2012 School Year!
NO SCHOOL – Just a reminder that there will be NO School on Monday, January 16th due to the holiday. School resumes on Tuesday!
PTO MEETING - Our next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, February 14th at 8:15AM.
Rachel’s Challenge Thought for the Week! – “If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito”.
Athletic Booster Meeting - Athletic Booster is meeting Monday, January 30th @ 6:00 PM in our cafeteria lobby. Parents are encouraged to attend.
*Automated Phone System - In an effort to better communicate with our parents, we’d like you to be aware that on Monday, January 9, we began using our automated phone system to alert parents if a student has been marked absent for that school day. Parents can expect the phone call at approximately 9:00 AM each morning a student is marked absent from homeroom. As you are aware, our homeroom meets at 7:45, so those students who arrive late to school will have been marked absent and parents will be notified.
As with any new initiative, we will listen to you and learn what we may need to do to make the process work for our school personnel as well as our families. We thank you in advance for your patience as we launch this new communication initiative.
Yearbook Meeting - There will be a yearbook meeting today, Thursday, January 12 from 3-4. Please bring any pictures you have taken of school activities either on a flash drive or your camera card.
Geography Bee - The following students will be competing in the Final Competition of the Geography Bee tomorrow, Friday Morning at 9:00:
Noah Mathis
Trent Lupton
Marshall White
Ian Tetterton
They will need to report to the AIG room at 9:00 on Friday, morning.
Student Lunch Accounts -Does your student's lunch account need some attention? With the new year beginning, we have had quite a few students' accounts get low. To avoid an alternative lunch, please have a conversation with your son/daughter about the current balance. If you have any questions, please call our cafeteria manager, Rachel Blevins.
Wrestling News – Don’t let the scoreboard fool you Folks, yesterday’s wrestling match against Broad Creek was a Minutemen Victory! The Bull Dogs came into our house expecting an easy win, thinking the MCMS boys would just roll over. Guess what, boy were they surprised when our guys fought them tooth and nail every step of the way!
Newport and Beaufort better watch out!
How about that CROWD! You guys brought the noise! That’s how it needs to be every MCMS match and game.
Congratulations to the following wrestlers who won their matches: Brooks Holmes, Malique Johnson, Tony Sharpe and Teddy Teague.
*Wrestling Practice will end today @ 4:15. Please allow wrestlers to make arrangements to get a ride or attend the basketball game and return the favor to their fellow students.
Basketball Game – Students and staff mark your calendars for our 1st basketball game of the season. Today, Thursday, January 12th the MCMS Minutemen will face Beaufort Middle School right here in our gym with the girls game beginning first at 4:00. The boys game will follow.
