Media Mania News …. Don’t get caught without a BOOK!
Battle of the Books -
MCMS students and parents, this year we've had over 100 students reading Battle of the Books (BOB) titles. Each team has a BOB team that meets weekly and in some cases daily during academic coaching. The time has come to have a school wide competition to find out which team is our school winner. This competition will be held in the library on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 8:30 to 11:30am. From 8:00 - 8:30, we would like to have a celebratory breakfast reception in our cafeteria. We need parents who would like to volunteer to coordinate the reception. If you are interested, please contact Dega Lancaster. Parents are invited to attend the school wide competition on February 11, 2011.

MCMS Battle of the Books Team to Compete at the County Level -
Due to state regulations of BOB teams, each school is only permitted to have 12 students in the county competition. All students who are currently on a BOB team are invited to express interest in participating at the county level by submitting qualification forms to their BOB Coach. The coach will then determine the number of BOB titles read by each interested student. The students with the most number of BOB titles read will comprise our MCMS BOB team. In the case of more than 12 students reading all 2011 BOB titles and are interested in competing at the county level, a paper-pencil test will be given. The 12 highest scores will make up the MCMS BOB team. The county competition is on March 11, 2011 and is a day-long event for students.

Battle of the Books
We had 19 students qualify for our school, MCMS Battle of the Books team. Therefore, a paper pencil assessment will be given this Friday, February 4 during AC. It will come from the BOB questions and include a random sampling from most of the BOB titles. The top 12 scores will make our MCMS BOB county competing team. Don't forget, all of our team BOB members will compete in our school competition on February 11.
